Who We Are

CRC's Vision is: CRC will be the “go to” agency for services, resources and advocacy.

CRC was conceived by a special committee at North Broadway United Methodist Church, which pledged $20,000 to create an agency devoted to community betterment and help for individuals. CRC opened its doors in September of 1971, and from the beginning functioned as more than a social service agency. CRC seeks to gather together persons with common concerns and the motivation to do something about them, and help them get organized.

CRC’s mission is to improve the quality of life for all people in the Clintonville-Beechwold community in the best tradition of Settlement Houses. As a member of the Columbus Federation of Settlements, CRC works to improve social conditions by providing a range of services and promoting neighborly cooperation. CRC strives to identify social trends that create barriers to healthy living and then either provide or find the resources to overcome those barriers. CRC has partnered with local organizations and churches to create opportunities for the community and to help individuals and families develop self-sufficiency. These efforts are leveraged by a volunteer base of nearly 200 community volunteers annually. Programs encourage self-sufficiency while respecting individual worth, rights and dignity.

Our Core Values:

These characteristics will make CRC the leader in the provision of social services and a model for other social service organizations.

  • Justice: CRC will be an advocate for members of the Clintonville-Beechwold community, striving to ensure equality and fairness in all CRC efforts.

  • Adaptablity: CRC will be flexible in responding to community needs and rigid in adherence to our mission.

  • Efficiency: CRC will be a good steward with the resources endtrusted to us and will work to make the largest possible positive impact with our efforts.

  • Engagement: CRC will be involved in our community.  We will be constantly aware of issues in the Clintonville-Beechwold area, and we will demonstrate this awareness by encouraging and participating in communication within this community.

  • Dignity: The work of CRC will be characterized by our respect for the self-sufficiency, self-worth, social integration, and self-determination of the people we serve.  We will work to increase the choices for members of our community and pledge to treat people's information in a responsible manner.
