You stepped up to support CRC’s work through #GivingTuesday

Leaders at the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center are thrilled that the community support was even greater than expected during this year’s #GivingTuesday.

This year’s #GivingTuesday was all day day on Nov. 29.With a goal of $10,000, CRC supporters stepped up to contribute more than $11,000.

Those dollars will make a direct impact on the CRC’s programs to feed hungry neighbors, care for local students, provide Kinship Care and Senior Supportive Services and much more.

The grand total includes a $1,000 contribution from the James A. Flint Fund of the Columbus Foundation. The dollars were directed to the CRC thanks to two CRC supporters who won “Caption Contests” sponsored by the foundation throughout the day.

The national day of giving was set aside several years ago as a response to the focus on shopping that seems to grip society during the few days following Thanksgiving. That Thursday is now followed by the “Black Friday” shopping frenzy, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

During giving-tuesday-horizontal#GivingTuesday, residents are reminded that there are many people in our communities who are unable to participate in these celebrations of consumerism. Neighborhoods, including Clintonville, are made up of families who are struggling to make ends meet, seniors with little to no support, children unable to participate in quality afterschool programs.

The CRC’s #GivingTuesday campaign included fun surprises, matching gifts and more, helping participants understand the power of their donations, regardless of the size.

The first treat came from Whit’s Frozen Custard in Clintonville, which offered a $2 gift certificate to everyone who donates at least $10 to the CRC’s #GivingTuesday campaign! The certificates will be mailed out to supporters of the #WeLoveCRC effort.

While #GivingTuesday is formally over, the spirit of giving is something the CRC hope
