Sign up for the EAS Run For the Roses on memorial Day at the Park of Roses.

Runners and walkers from around Columbus are invited to participate in the fifth annual Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center (CRC), EAS Ring Around the Roses 5K Walk and Run on Memorial Day, May 28.

The course begins and ends at Whetstone High School stadium and winds its way through Clintonville’s beautiful Whetstone Park and will give runners and walkers a view of Whetstone’s oak trees, roses, meadows and forests. Participants will be able to enjoy nature, get in a good run, and spend some time at the park while helping your friends and neighbors who are helped by the CRC.

The run begins at 9:00.  Packet pick up and registration begins at 7:30.   There is also a Kids Fun Run beginning at 8:30.  Kids can run in an age group of under 6 or ages 7 – 10 in either the 100 or 200 dash.  All kid racers will receive a race ribbon.  No entry free is required for the Kids Fun Run.

Over forty community organizations and merchants are sponsoring the 5K event, showing continued neighborhood support for Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center as it celebrates the 40anniversary this year.  Executive Director, Bill Owens is excited that this event has gained such strong support from sponsors, runners, and the community in general in only five years “This has become a Clintonville tradition, and is a great way to support the CRC, connect with the community, and get some good exercise.”

• Entry Fee: $30 pre-registered; $40 day of race
• Awards: The top three male and female finishers and age-group winners

Free Bike Clinic

Where: North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. N. Broadway

When: Noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20

What: Volunteers will do minor repairs such as spoke tightening, seat adjustment, tire inflation, and chain maintenance. Plus, kids can get measured for a free bike helmet.

Why: To help our neighbors on Change the World Day.

The Mozart's Spring Fundraiser was a huge success!

Our Spring Fundraiser at Mozart’s Cafe on May 3rd raised over $12,000!

Thanks very much to Anand Saha who has raised a total of more than $208,000 over the past 15 years fundraising for us!

Jim Arter, the associate artist for the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and lead artist at the Clintonville site took the children’s artwork with him on his vacation to India this March. Last year Jim took artwork created by the children to Ireland. Each time the children’s artwork travels Jim takes photos of the artwork on location. After the trip each child receives a picture of their artwork in a different part of the world. As Mr. Jim says, “Art is the universal language!”

Jim uses these experiences to demonstrate to the children that we never really know what wonderful things may happen if we stay open to possibilities. Jim believes that our job, as children and adults, is to do our best at the task at hand on a daily basis. Sometimes, not always, but many times great things happen that we wouldn’t have expected. Imagine for example artwork created by 5 to 12 year old students in Clintonville, Ohio enjoyed by people from the U.S. & Canada in India!

CRC Kinship Care services help families all over Franklin County.

The race route will take you through Whetstone Park’s oak trees, meadows and roses! The course will be a certified 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course, and a professional race coordinator, will be assisting with the event. Check out the map here.
