Patrons enjoy sweet time at Spring Fling

Thanks to the tremendous response of CRC supporters and sponsors, this year’s Spring Fling with The Salty Caramels was a big success even before the doors opened!

Reservations closed early because of the demand for tickets. Patrons who were able to attend the event were treated to a splendid evening that included wonderful food served by the staff of the Clintonville Woman’s Club and an entertaining performance by The Salty Caramels.

This year’s major spring fundraiser for the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center was held Thursday, May 4. Nearly $15,000 was raised for CRC programs, including its Choice Food Pantry, Kids Club, Senior Supportive Services, Kinship Care, Village in the Ville and lots more.

The CRC’s Spring Fling with The Salty Caramels was catered by the club, which recently was named 2017 Clintonville Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year.

The evening began with a social hour, including appetizers — sponsored by The Deco — followed by dinner and then the music.

This year’s program was sponsored by UnitedHealthcare.

The club’s selection of desserts is being sponsored by Heartland Bank, one of Clintonville’s newest neighbors!

During the event, patrons had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets/caramels in order to win a Pint Club membership from Jeni’s Ice Cream, whose famous flavor is the inspiration for the name of this year’s entertainment.

When the original group formed years ago, we were interested in calling our girl group a local flavor,” explained band member Molly Winters in an email.

“We thought of Jeni’s Splendid Ice cream- Salty Caramel. The flavor is sweet, and salty- which we felt women can identify with. We contacted Jeni and asked for her blessing. She gladly supported us using her signature name, and we even went on to perform at local creameries throughout Columbus.

“The name has endured for another 4 years with our current line-up and has proven to be a memorable and nostalgic definition for our delightful and endearing performances.”
