A special program put in place by the MidOhio Foodbank, with cooperation from several local grocers, helps keep the CRC’s Choice Food Pantry well-stocked with various items.
The Direct Retail Program allows local pantries to work with stores in their communities, to directly pick up donated food instead of having the items delivered to the Foodbank all the way in Grove City and then brought back out to the local pantries.
Several stores have been assigned to the CRC through the Foodbank: Giant Eagle on High Street in Clintonville, Target at Graceland and the Fresh Market on Henderson Road.
The Giant Eagle on state Route 161, just west of Interstate 71, was the fourth partner and the staff there did an amazing job of donating food — and especially frozen meat — that no longer could be sold but still had great value for the CRC and the neighbors it serves.
Sadly, the store was one of several closed by Giant Eagle in Central Ohio and its last day was March 4.
On behalf of the CRC staff, and the thousands of people you helped feed during these past few years, we thank you for your support and commitment to help feed hungry neighbors.
